Dr. Iorizzo research aims to establish genomic resources to elucidate the genes controlling fruit characteristics, the production of photoactive, in fruits and vegetables in addition to other important traits, such as disease resistance. He is the director of the VacCAP project, a multi-state project funded by USDA-NIFA that aim at expanding resources and knowledge on the link between blueberry DNA, fruit characteristics and quality. This research ultimately facilitates the selection of new crop varieties with improved quality and cost-effective production.
