Dr. Miller has twenty-years of experience in public health, epidemiology, and infectious disease
outbreak investigations. Ben earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Health with a background in infectious diseases and his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. He currently serves as the Senior Director of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs at the Acheson Group and works across multiple sectors advising on public health and outbreak-related issues. Since February 2020, Ben has led The Acheson Group’s COVID-19 response helping people and businesses develop COVID-related response plans, testing strategies, manage cases of illness, and stay informed on the ever-changing science and
recommendations.

He has previously worked as an epidemiologist at the Minnesota Department of Health on bioterrorism, SARS, West Nile Virus, and multiple foodborne illness outbreaks. Dr. Miller led the development of one of the first syndromic surveillance systems in the US and worked with the CDC and FDA as a lead investigator during many large multi-state foodborne illness outbreaks. Dr. Miller also has extensive food regulatory experience and, as Division Director at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, led the State of Minnesota’s Human and Animal Food regulatory work.
